Houston Texans     vs    Jacksonville Jaguars

USA: NFL – Round 1

AFC South rivals will face off on Sunday afternoon when the Jacksonville Jaguars visit the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium in the 2021 season opener for both teams.

Houston has finally parted with Bill O’Brien after seven years as head coach and two seasons as general managed following numerous questionable personnel decisions.

Tyrod Taylor is going to get the first crack at the starting quarterback job after starting one game with the Los Angeles Chargers last year before being replaced by rookie Justin Herbert

Just three seasons after nearly reaching the Super Bowl, the Jaguars suddenly put up the worst record in the entire NFL last year, with only a 27-20 upset victory over the Indianapolis Colts all the way back in Week 1 separating Jacksonville from a winless campaign. The good news is that Jacksonville earned the No. 1 overall pick for that performance and was able to select a generational talent in quarterback Trevor Lawrence while also hiring Meyer, a three-time national champion from the college ranks.

While Jacksonville’s defense certainly doesn’t look good on paper, at least there’s some building blocks with Allen and K’Lavon Chaisson plus free agent addition Shaquill Griffin coming in as the top cornerback. The Jaguars will have some rough moments this year, but are talented enough to handle a Texans team that is in disarray
