The Sharks will host the Griquas in the second semi-final of the weekend. The weather looks like a perfect day for rugby, which in Durban unfortunately translates to high humidity and a slippery ball.

The Griquas looked completely shell-shocked in last week’s do-or-die game against the Pumas, and I think that was hands-down their worst performance of the season. The Sharks had a dead-rubber against a committed Province team and will be looking to pull up their socks and get a much improved performance in this weekend.

The Sharks match ups with the Griquas delivered mixed results. In the opening round they were comfortable winners in Kimberley 30-16 but the return in Durban in Round 8 saw Griquas come out on top 37-27.

The home team have made some positive changes to the side, and I believe their experience in knock-out type games will show this weekend as they pull clear towards the end. Also keep an eye on the try-market when that appears as both teams will likely be kicking the 3 pointers when they’re on offer, so might have a look at the unders there.
