All eyes will be on Johan Cruijff Arena when Netherlands and Austria face each other in the Group C match-up.

Austria started their tournament against North Macedonia, the outsiders of this quartet. They took the lead through Lainer on 18 minutes but a mix up in defence saw them pegged back before half time. Austria had to wait until 78 minutes to regain the lead through Gregoritsch and Marco Arnautovic, who started on the bench, sealed a 3-1 win.

Frank De Boer’s side almost threw victory away, with the Ukrainians coming from 2-0 down to level before Denzel Dumfries headed a deserved winner for Holland. That showed their defence remains weak without injured talisman Virgil van Dijk so Austria’s forwards will fancy their chances in Amsterdam. Which will lead to an open and expansive game tonight.

The high scoring trend in Netherlands games had been evident in qualifying where all bar one of their matches went over 2.5 goals and at least 4 goals were scored in 6 of those games.
