Denmark vs  Finland

Denmark welcome Finland to Copenhagen today, getting their Euro 2020 campaign underway in Group B with a Scandinavian battle.

In qualifying for these finals Denmark finished as runners up to Switzerland by 1 point, unbeaten with 4 wins and 4 draws, scoring 23 goals and conceding just 6. Rep of Ireland were third with Georgia well back in fourth and Gibraltar were the whipping boys.

Finland finished as distant runners up to Italy in their qualification group with Greece, Bosnia Herzegovina and Armenia missing out and Lichtenstein were the also rans. They won 6 and lost 4 of their group qualifiers, scoring 16 goals and conceding 10. Finland lost twice to Italy but 4 home wins against their main rivals for the runners place saw them through.

The Danes upward trajectory in recent years can be attributed to their well-schooled defense, with the Red-White recording 12 clean sheets across their last 21 competitive contests.

The Finns have lost to nil in their last two and striker Teemu Pukki is just working his way back to fitness. Given that and with Denmark keeping five clean sheets in their last six at home we’re not seeing too much resistance form the visitors.
