Indianapolis Colts vs Seattle Seahawks
Quarterback Carson Wentz kick-starts a new era with the Indianapolis Colts with a tough Week 1 matchup against the visiting Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. There’s no better way of making a statement than surviving a one-on-one matchup with Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.
The Seahawks finished 12-4 last season before falling in defeat to the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, while the Colts went 11-5 and dropped a heartbreaker to the Buffalo Bills
Wentz won’t have a lot of receiving weapons in his first year with the Colts. With four-time Pro Bowler T.Y. Hilton out, the team will be dependent on guys like Michael Pittman Jr. and Parris Campbell to break out as primary targets. So it’ll be a tall order for Wentz to simply waltz right into Indy and find success with severe limitations at the skilled positions.
Seattle’s best shot at victory is getting in Carson Wentz’s face early and often.
A powerful offensive line doesn’t mean much if the receivers can’t create separation and get open. Granted, the Seahawks’ secondary was pitiful last season, but there really aren’t a lot of standout offensive receiving weapons for Carson Wentz to throw to in this game. T.Y. Hilton won’t be on the field, and it’s hard to put a ton of faith in a dramatic leap from a young player like Michael Pittman Jr., especially if he’s going to be rushed into the No. 1 receiving role
